Big changes

Wow! Big changes are coming. Or should I say a lot has changed. We are moving from our home of almost 14 years. I'm sad and relieved at the same time. I will miss our little cottage type of a house by Lake Michigan but it's mostly because of all wonderful memories of my children growing up here. All the crazy mornings of rushing around to find matching pairs of socks, cooking peek a boo toast for breakfast and trying to get all the kids to their own schools on time. All of the Bon-fires in our back yard, going to the beach which we realize now we should have done a whole lot more. Kids running and playing with their friends in the neighborhood. 😊
The great part is, I get to decorate a new house now! That's fun!
I bought a few years ago an old cabinet from a parking lot antique sale. It has been painted, burgundy, navy blue and black. None of those colors are my thing anymore so in the spirit of moving I'm trying to repurpose my oldies into fresh goodies. If that makes sense? So here's the new look.
I painted it with my sage colored paint, added a layer of chipping paint then covered it in cattail by Caromal colors and sanded and stained it. I like it much better and will keep it now. Yeah!
Off to more packing and new makeovers. Also have to Un-pack my luggage from our trip to Vegas that we just got home from last night. Hope everyone is doing great!
Btw, I recommend the Elton John show "Million Dollar Piano" in Vegas if you have not seen it yet. Very good! (Never pictured myself going to a Elton show but glad we did)

Garlicky White Bean Spread on Crostini

-Garlicky White Bean Spread on Crostini-

I tried this recipe today. I got this from my  "Skinny Bitch In The Kitch" book.
I recommend it greatly! Awesome appetizers.
Makes about 40- bite sized appetizers.

1 (15oz.) can cannellini beans, drained.
2-4 garlic cloves
3-tablespoons lemon juice
1-tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/4-teaspoon fine sea salt
Or more to taste.
1/8- teaspoon black pepper
2-teaspoons chopped fresh herbs.
Ex. Italian parsley, sweet basil,
Roasted red peppers to taste.
And 40-crostini

In the bowl of a food processor, combine the beans, 2-garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, salt & pepper. Purée, stopping to scrape sides of bowl.
Taste and add more salt and garlic to the flavor you like best! stir in 2-teaspoons of chopped parsley or basil.
Top each crostini with about 2-teaspoons of beam spread. Sprinkle with herbs. ( roasted red peppers to garnish optional) arrange on platter and serve.

Crostini Recipe:

Take your French baguette, sprayed or brushed on olive oil, Cut into rounds toasted in a 350 degree oven for 8-15 mins. Till crusty and golden. :) hope you enjoy! Let me know if you try it!

Blessings

Starting new projects around the house to I guess Re-claim it after the boyfriends move out! It sure is sad sometimes but making the most of it.
I'm sharing a photo I just took of another antique that my dad and I picked up last spring an just getting it into my kitchen and I rather love it! I wish I had some sort of lights within it! Any ideas?
I'm also trying to figure out the new furniture I want! I love the furniture in Irvin's catalog but pretty pricey for a single mom like me. Also like some of the Sturbridge Yankee pieces too. How do you decide? I guess I will have to check out photo bucket and all of your blogs go ideas and inspiration! I REALLY love "theprimitivesticher" photo bucket house tour pics! OMGosh there beautiful! If you haven't seen them do a quick search! You will drool!
Well, off to bed.... I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their week!

Christmas decor is coming down!

What a hectic year this one was. I had to work during "shut down" and now have my x-boyfriend Jimmy's niece at my house for a few nights. We love he so darn much! She's getting no and talks so much clearer now. She melts my heart and my kids are loving having her here too. Now I have a lot of cleaning to do. With a lot of help this next year the plan is to start a new co blog and post some fun videos to share on cleaning, craft projects and cooking :) hope it will all come together.
I hope everyone out there in blog land had a wonderful Holiday and ha a very Happy NewYear!

Busy with FUN stuff!

I have been busy doing so many little projects that I had put off. Since the fibromyalgia diagnosis and trying different Meds I finally have some that work for me so I can move around more freely. So....
This is the start of a new project. I picked this old chair up at a parking lot antique sale. I had bought a dresser and a cute cabinet that I will show another time :) the ladie was so happy she sold me the chair for like $3.00. And I have a really bad obsession with old chairs. I have a collection :)
Last night I started to remove layers of fabrics and found under all that, that there is horse hair that was used for the padding. Must be older than I thought. So here's some pics but its not done yet! I wish I knew how old it actually is.
